AMBER Alert website back online, despite government shutdown

The U.S. Department of Justice's AMBER Alert website is back online after being taken down due to a lack of funding during the government shutdown.

Even with the site being restored, the Michigan State Police assure that the Michigan AMBER Alert System website is not linked through the federal government. According to the MSP, the AMBER Alert website in Michigan is a non-profit program, supported by several organizations.

"AMBER Alert of Michigan is a non-profit organization dedicated to being a liaison between law enforcement and the media to help in the immediate dissemination of information to the public about a missing child," said Tiffany Brown of the Michigan State Police.

Michigan's AMBER Alert System is supported by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, Michigan State Police, the Michigan Sheriffs' Association and the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police.

The Michigan AMBER Alert website can be found here.
