Gov. Rick Snyder says a new public-private partnership will provide free information technology training and certification for Michigan veterans.
Details of the "Michigan Shifting Careers: IT Networking Certifications Program for Military Servicemembers" pilot program were announced Friday. Snyder says in a statement that veterans will get "the fast-track training they need to successfully transition into civilian employment."
The program is being offered through the Workforce Development Agency in partnership with several other businesses, schools and agencies. As veterans complete training, pass exams and earn certifications, a network of partners and employers will help them get jobs.
New Horizons training facilities in Detroit, Livonia, Troy, East Lansing, Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo are among the participating locations.
