The Northern Michigan University hockey team opens the home portion of its schedule tonight with a contest against the Huskies of Saint Cloud State. The Wildcats were working on their power play at the pre-game skate Friday morning.
Head coach Walt Kyle was pleased with his team's improvement during the Wisconsin series, but it must continue in all facets of the game, especially at home.
"I didn't think our power play was as effective as it needed to be," said Kyle. "We didn't get the number of opportunities we would have liked. We did score some goals, but it wasn't with end zone, crisp passing, puck movement that we like. We have to work on that. I think we're going to have to continue on not turning pucks over, and all our other areas of our game have to grow."
Faceoff tonight (10/14) and tomorrow (10/15) at the Berry Events Center is 7:30.
Kingsford native and former Marquette Ranger Kevin Gravel makes his return to Marquette. Gravel is in his sophomore season with the Huskies. He wears number 7 for St. Cloud and is property of the Los Angeles Kings who drafted the former Flivver in the 5th round in the 2010 draft.
