120 pounds of drugs collected in Marquette

The Marquette City Police Department has collected 75 pounds of prescription medications and 45 pounds of non-prescription supplements from its drug drop box.

The 120 pounds of pills were collected over the last two months. The blue drop box has been around for a year, and the police department says it's a great tool to help people dispose of their prescription drugs properly.

"When we collect it, put them in an evidence room until we have a person that is authorized to collect this type of material, and they take it from there and they dispose of it," said Det. Sgt. Doug Heslip of the Marquette Police Department.

The drop box is located in front of the main office of the Marquette Police Station.
