.22 caliber ammunition is in short supply, but it's not just here in the U.P. Folks buying the ammunition that don't necessarily need it, combined with a rise in price have led to consumers seeing less on the store shelves.
Since the price of other types of ammunition have skyrocketed, .22 caliber ammunition is among the cheapest, so folks are using it more for recreation as well.
"It's been a long time since we've gotten any large amounts in. We've gotten a couple of bricks in the last month or so, but that's all we've been getting," said Raymond Sundquist of Wilderness Sports in Ishpeming.
It is expected to be another year and a half before manufacturers catch up to demand. In the meantime, if you are looking for .22 caliber ammunition, the key is to be patient.
