The second annual Spark Plug Awards are coming up in the Copper Country, and the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce is looking for nominations.
The event is coordinated by the chamber and the Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance, or KEDA, along with sponsorships from the MTEC SmartZone and Keweenaw Young Professionals.
The purpose is to highlight businesses that are positively impacting the community by providing jobs and innovative ideas that promote the area economy.
Awards will be handed out to businesses for growth, innovation, quality, teamwork, transformation, community development, and person of the year and outstanding young professional. Nominations must be chamber or KEDA members but can be nominated by anyone.
â??We are one economy, we are one business community, and we are two membership-driven organizations, both the chamber and KEDA,â?? said event organizer, Karyn Olsson. â??A couple years ago, we were looking for a reason to work together and couldn't think of a better reason than to honor our members and the hardworking people in our business community.â??
Nominations are due by January 31. The Spark Plug Awards will be held February 13 in Houghton.
Nomination forms can be found at the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce in Houghton or on their website here .
