The Forty Below young professionals group has lined up a new event to promote healthy living and benefit a good cause. They call it the Iron Range Roll. It's a 16 mile point to point downhill race from Ishpeming to Marquette along the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. 75-percent of the proceeds from the race will go the YMCA'S Reach and Rise program. Organizers say this is a great way to celebrate our mining heritage and benefit the "Y".
"Its connected many communities together on a very historic trail, which tells a lot about our heritage and our history of why our communities became who they are today," said Ryan Nummela President of the 40 Below group.
The race is scheduled for June 7, with a start time of 11 a.m. Registration is underway, the cost is $25 per person as a runner or cyclist, $100 for a four person relay team. We've created a link to the registration page right here.
