Rain could not stop the 43rd outing of the Norway Community Picnic in Norway Sunday afternoon. Hosted by the Vulcan Norway Loretto Lions Club, the picnic is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the club. This year they were serving up 250 chicken dinners along with hot dogs, bratwurst with all of the fixings. In addition to food, the picnic also included games and prizes for kids.
"People should come out to have a good time, a good meal and know that they're money that they're donating will go to back into the local community," said Corky DeRoeck of the Vulcan Norway Loretto Lions Club.
One of the big draws is the raffle that includes prizes donated from local businesses as well as cash prizes. Last year the raffle alone raised over $5,000 for the club. The club takes pride in keeping most of the money locally to support those in the area.
