It may not be warm here in the Upper Peninsula, but warm Brazilian weather is just an imagination and dinner plate away.
Northern Michigan University culinary and hospitality students are hosting their annual themed dinner banquet Friday, April 19. This year's theme is a Carnival in Rio. The event starts at 6 p.m.
A four-course meal, featuring authentic Brazilian food, will be served, and a parade with samba dancers will take place.
"It's really great for us because we get to learn a lot about the process of having an event or banquet. We have the back of the house, which is our kitchen crew, and then we also have the front of the house, which is our dcor and entertainment. Every aspect of an event we're working on right now, and it's definitely really fun," said Banquet Manager Alex Palzewicz.
Tickets are $75 and are limited. Only 45 reservations remain. All of the proceeds will go to a scholarship fund for hospitality and culinary students. To make reservations and obtain tickets, call the Foundation Office at (906) 227-2627.
