A new business in Marquette, called St. Charles Winery, held their ribbon cutting Wednesday. The store features locally made wines in a wide variety of new and classic flavors. The owners have been working on moving into their Washington Street location, between Family Video and Subway, and getting the product together for about 11 months. They say keeping it local is very important to their business.
"It's a great opportunity to have a small business in the community that gives back and has a local feel to it, where I know the names in the community, and I know the local customers, what the people want and how we can serve them," said the owner, Lisa St. Charles.
The St. Charles Winery also offers a wine called Maddie Paws that benefits the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter. This Saturday they're hosting a wine, chocolate and massage event from 1-3 p.m.
