A new 'health studies area' at Bay College

Bay De Noc Community College is proud to announce the opening of their new health studies area on the Escanaba campus. The ribbon cutting ceremony was held Wednesday in the Health and Applied Technology building.

The $1.5 million project includes a renovation of the largest lecture hall on campus as well a revamp of the nursing education area.

The new area includes four human simulation mannequins. Varying in age and gender, these dolls are computer controlled and simulate medical conditions ranging in vomiting, seizures, birth and more.

â??Across the country, research is showing that nurses that have been through a program that has this, feel more comfortable being nurses,â?? said Bay College President Laura Coleman. â??And theyâ??re very able to handle just about anything that comes their way. So, itâ??s a really exciting thing.â??

The renovations were made possible by John and Melissa Besse, Bay College Trustees and the State of Michigan.

Addition information is available through the Bay College Foundation office at (906) 217-1700.
