      A Swedish family Christmas

The Marquette Regional History Center had a special Christmas celebration Saturday. Families were invited to come and celebrate as S wedish families do.

A traditional dance with the Marquette Folk Dancers had everyone in the Christmas spirit. Children were also able to make some decorations to bring home.

"They're making ornaments with their family. They're making little yarn Tomtes, like little Santas, they're making tissue paper Christmas crackers called Smllkarameller, and things that kids have probably never made before," said Tiina Harris.

Children were told the story of the Swedish gift-bringer, Tomte (tome-tuh), and were granted a visit by Tomte himself. No one could help but smile when T omte entered the room.

The Marquette Regional History Center will host a Greek Christmas next December.
