The Gogebic-Iron County Airport will receive a new service provider beginning in July.
As part of a two-year Essential Air Service contract given to Air Choice One, the company will be expanding to the airport on July 7, 2014. The new carrier to the Gogebic-Iron County Airport will also add a new hub for Ironwood travelers, Chicago O'Hare International Airport.
"We are extremely pleased to add Ironwood to our growing route system," said Air Choice One CEO Shane Storz. "We are hopeful that with our new hub service to Chicago, the community of Ironwood will once again come out and support their local airport. We want to thank all of those throughout the community that have supported our effort to restore a first class connection to a great airport in Chicago."
According to officials, Ironwood has been without air service since February 2014.
