Leif Erikson Day is a national observance centered on Vikings, the first Europeans recognized to set foot in North America, and Leif Erikson led the way.
Every year, Norway participates in the celebrations.
A group of history buffs put their passions into live performances with reenactments.
"We do reenactments like these to help people understand the culture as it was and how the Vikings lived," said Heidi Fry.
A few of the actors even had brief battles with authentic gear and clothing.
"Our jewelry is based on the types of jewelry they wore back then; our style of dress, our style of hats," Fry added.
But that wasn't all the event was limited to. Food, local vendors, and fall produce were available further up Main Street.
