The Copper Country Walleye Association held its second annual Angler Young Angler tournament on Saturday at Chassellâ??s Centennial Park.
Eighteen boats and about 40 kids, ages 3 to 18, participated in the event. The participants who caught the most fish won a 12-foot Lund boat with a 5-horsepower motor and trolling motor.
Brent Leonard and his two nephews, Cooper and Brady, were the winners with six walleye. The CCWA said the event is always a hit with the kids and their families.
â??It's a good thing for our club to get kids involved in fishing,â?? said CCWA President Ross Rinkinen. â??It's a lot of fun to get them out on the water and kind of have that professional-style tournament format.â??
The Leonards said they plan to come back next year to defend their title.
