Animal shelter seeks electronic items to be recycled

The Northwoods Animal Shelter in Iron River is part of a national recycling competition to raise money. The recycling campaign is for electronic devices, and it's through a company called Funding Factory. The campaign encourages people to bring in old electronics, inkjets and cartridges, old phones, GPS, and laptops. The shelter collects the items, then ships them to Funding Factory in Pennsylvania. Each item is worth money that will be sent back to the shelter. There are also cash prizes for organizations in first, second and third place

â??We need to get everything in by around April 21 or so because even though the campaign ends April 30, it takes us three to four days to get them shipped UPS,â?? said coordinator, Terry Maki.

Items can be dropped off at the shelter at 930 Selden Avenue in Iron River and can be reached at (906) 265-7387. Items can also be dropped off in Crystal Falls at Sentinel Technologies at 32 Superior Avenue in Crystal Falls; they can be reached at (906) 875-4575. Each person that donates will also be entered into a drawing to win a quilt.
