Animal shelters from across the U.P. gathered in Munising on Friday for an animal welfare workshop. The organization MPAW put on the workshop that included lectures and seminars about properly cleaning animals, assessing animals that are new to the shelter, and adopting animals out of the shelter among other topics. The Delta County Animal Shelter completely closed down to come meet and learn with the other shelters.
"We see the value of the networking so that each of the shelters in the U.P., we're all here to help the animals," Delta County Animal Shelter Employee Susan Gartland said. "This will make us a stronger cohesive U.P. organization so we can help each other more."
Representatives from Delta County Animal Shelter, UPAWS, and the Alger County Animal Shelter among others were in attendance for the workshop.
