A recent study by the University of Minnesota found that daily vitamins may have an increase risk on women's health.
The study says taking too many vitamins over a long period of time can be toxic to the body and may lead to a higher risk of death. However, vitamins do help with maintaining a healthy body. Many supplements have more nutrients than food, so women are encouraged to have a balanced diet.
"Sometimes people might choose to take supplements or a vitamin because they hear of a potential benefit or action of it, but in reality, a well balanced diet emphasizing plant-based foods is the best source of nourishment," said Portage Health dietician, Tara Lassila.
It's important to always consult with your doctor if you have any concerns regarding your health.
