Are you at risk for diabetes?

The U.P. Diabetes Outreach Network is asking you to take a survey to find out what your risk level is for becoming diabetic.

You can take the survey by going to www.diabetesinmichigan.org .

Those at a high risk are people who are older, overweight, and inactive, and health professionals say having diabetes can lead to other health complications like heart disease.

"Those things can damage organs, your blood vessels, and life is about living and enjoying, so making those small changes to have a more healthful life and enjoying the things that are important," said U.P. Diabetes Outreach Network Director, Ann Constance.

Visit a doctor and get some blood work done to see if you do have diabetes or if you're pre-diabetic. Officials say if you are, take action and start exercising, and start working towards healthier eating habits.
