Last year, 500 people came out for the Marquette YMCA Run/Walk. This year the "Y" hopes to attract even more participants.
Last year the event raised over $5,000. The money raised provides scholarships for individuals and families who otherwise couldn't afford Y programs.
"It's just nice for kids to be able to do swimming lessons and karate and programs, and even though they may not have the money, parents can still sign their kids up for programs, just like any other child that would be of a higher income level," said Race Director, Jenna Zdunek.
Events include 5K, 10K and 10-mile competitive runs plus a 5K non-competitive walk, one-mile youth run, and a toddler trot. The run/walk is April 20. For more information, click here.
