Are you ready for Yooper Day?

Blocks laid out in Marquette's Lower Harbor for the first Yooper Day celebration

Yooper Day is Saturday in Marquette's Lower Harbor.

Although it doesn't look like much now, organizers say the entire park will be filled with local venders selling everything from food to clothing and art. Two wooden silhouettes of the Upper Peninsula are laid out on the grass, and one of which will be available for all attendees to sign.

Fifteen competitors have already signed up for the all you can eat mini-pasty contest.

"People should come to Yooper Day because it's a celebration for Yoopers and by Yoopers," said Blake Miller, co-creator of Yooper Day. "We were both born in the U.P. and we love it up here. We want people to get together and have a good time."

All are invited to Yooper Day and the event is scheduled Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. For more information on the contests, events and vendors visit the Yooper Day website.
