One of the suspects in the alleged armed robbery of a home in Watton appeared in court on Thursday.
Donavan Lee Waupoose, 21, was in court after being taken into custody on Monday in Stephenson. He is facing two felony charges of armed robbery, two felony charges of extortion, one felony charge of impersonating an officer, and two felony charges of unlawful imprisonment.
Police found Waupoose after receiving a tip from a former Michigan State Police trooper. A warrant executed at the residence in Stephenson also discovered some evidence that possibly linked the suspect to the armed robbery in Watton and a kidnapping in Long Lake, Wisconsin.
The second suspect in the crimes has been identified as 27-year-old Bernard A. Fish. Fish is described as a 5'11" 185 pound Native American that is believed to be in Wisconsin.
Waupoose, who is a second time habitual offender, is remaining in the Baraga County Jail on a $1 million bond. He is expected to be in court again on August 27.
