The young Iron Mountain man accused of crimes in connection with the armed robbery earlier this month appeared in Dickinson County District Court on Wednesday.
Seventeen-year-old Jacelin Sims has been charged with armed robbery, which is a felony offense punishable by up to life in prison.
He is also facing several unrelated felonies and misdemeanors, including larceny in a building, breaking and entering a vehicle with damage to vehicle, and possession of marijuana.
In court, his attorney, Mike Scholke, requested more time to discuss the matter with Sims and with the prosecutor's office. The judge granted the request to waive the time limits, and Simsâ?? continuing preliminary examinations are scheduled for September 9 at 1:30 p.m.
Simsâ?? charges relate to an incident on August 6 where three subjects, dressed in black, broke into the victimâ??s residence on the 200 block of West Brown Street and robbed him at knife point. The victim suffered non life-threatening injuries in an attempt to resist the subjects.
