      Art Van Furniture to enter partnership with Marquette business

      Art Van Furniture has announced that it will be joining with an Upper Peninsula appliance store in a brand new franchise venture in Marquette.

      The furniture company has signed an agreement with Steven Anderson and Jeff Palomaki, owners of Household Appliance in Marquette. The two companies are expected to join forces to create Art Van Furniture & Household Appliance.

      "We are excited to partner with Steve and Jeff and bring Art Van Furniture to the U.P.," said Art Van Elslander, founder and chairman of Art Van Furniture. "By joining Art Van Furniture with Household Appliances, we continue to strengthen our commitment to this great state of Michigan."

      The new business venture is expected to open in November at the former American TV and Appliance location on US-41 in Marquette Township. The new store will feature 50,000 square feet of furniture, appliances, electronics and flooring and will create 15 new jobs.

      "Our family has been in the retail business in the Marquette area since 1971. We know our customers and interact with them regularly in the store and around town," said Steven Anderson, Household Appliances co-owner.
