Aspirus Keweenaw's Tree of Love honors passed loved ones

Aspirus Keweenaw is honoring passed loved ones this Christmas for the 20th year of the Tree of Love fundraiser.

The Tree of Love came about 20 years ago when a community member lost her teenage daughter suddenly to a rare heart condition.

Community members can purchase a light for $3, a bell for $25, an angel for $50, or a star ornament for $100 to honor friends and family members who have passed away. All the proceeds go toward purchasing medical equipment for the hospital.

A ceremony commemorating the Tree of Love will be Monday, December 9 at the hospital at 7 p.m.

??It's just something to help the community,?? said volunteer coordinator, Debra Dlubala. ??We have so many people every year that have a new loss, and the first Christmas is always really tough, and this is a way for them to embrace one another and just help to support one another.??

For more information, please contact Debra Dlubala at (906) 337-6961.
