Back to school for Upper Peninsula students

Elementary students at Lakeview in Negaunee gathered together with their classmates and teachers in the school bus lot as the buses dropped them off by the dozens.

Students greeted friends and anxiously waited to march into their new classrooms for the first time this school year.

The emotions ran high as the children were happy to see old friends, but fourth grader Susanna said she felt other emotions, "I feel kind of excited and nervous. I'm excited to learn new things and nervous about some people I'll meet."

The students and parents were greeted with warm smiles and hugs from the teachers and administration on their way in the door.

Lakeview Principal, Julie Anderson, is optimistic about this school year.

"We are excited and ready to go! It's going to be another great year of education here at Lakeview Elementary," said Anderson.
