On Saturday, the 11th Annual KBIC Kids Fishing Derby in Baraga was the catch of the day for residents. It started at 9 a.m. in the Ojibwa Recreation Area.
Since beginning in 2002, itâ??s quadrupled in size. It began with 90 participants and now attracts close to 400.
Dozens lined up early for registration, some even an hour before opening.
â??Kids have a lot of fun at it; thereâ??s lots to do,â?? says Baraga resident, Clara Chosa. "They enjoy it. They always come away with something.â??
The derby was for kids ages 4 to 12.
Prizes ranged from fishing equipment to iPods depending on how big of a catch kids reeled in.
