Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter to host golf scramble

The Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter Home for Victims of Domestic Violence is hosting a fundraiser golf scramble in the Copper Country this weekend to help with the cost of operating the shelter and for roof repairs.

The golf scramble will take place at Wyandotte Hills Golf Club in Twin Lakes. Four-person teams can sign up for $50 per person, and the course is 18 holes.

In their first two years hosting the scramble, the shelter raised over $4,000. Directors at the shelter say it's one of their biggest fundraising events of the year.

"It's just a good time. Plus, it's awareness," says director Mary Niemela. "People ask a lot of questions when they're up there, and it's our opportunity to share some of the information about how we can help victims of domestic violence."

The scramble is this Saturday at 10 a.m. So far ten teams have signed up and there is room for more.

For registration information, contact the Wyandotte Hills Golf Club at 906-288-3720.
