Folks were rocking in Manistique Saturday afternoon. Manistique High School held its first-ever battle of the bands.
The contest was judged by three local men that work in different aspects of music.
Proceeds from the event go toward funding school functions.
"Music is something that hasn't been exposed as much in Manistique. You know we're a lot more sports oriented than music oriented. So we thought we had an opportunity for people that are more into the arts by doing something more affiliated with that," said Manistique High School Senior President, Coby Ryan.
Cash prizes were handed out to the three bands that participated.
The school intends to make this an annual event.
