A beaten, blind dog brought into an Upper Michigan animal shelter has a new home.
The Daily Press of Escanaba reports that Dakini is a black Labrador that, a few months ago, was brought into the Delta Animal Shelter as a stray.
Shelter Manager Sue Gartland says it was not long before staff members realized Dakini was blind due to a head injury. They feared, however, that no one would adopt her because of the extra attention that would be needed.
That is until Greg and Linda Corsten of Little Lake saw Dakini and decided they were up to the challenge. They adopted Dakini into their home, which also includes dogs and parrots.
Greg Corsten says Dakini has adjusted well, and the experience has been great.
