November is National Home Hospice Month, and on Tuesday, a number of people gathered to ring bells for loved ones they have lost.
The Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice, along with Lake Superior Hospice, held a bell ringing event at the Marquette Commons for those that have had loved ones in hospice care.
Local churches also rang their bells at noon to show their support for hospice care and patients. The event was also meant to raise awareness about hospice care and provide information to people and family members that may need hospice care.
"We want to make sure that they know that we're here and we support them, and we're here to offer multiple services that can carry them through that difficult time," said Samantha Collins of Lake Superior Hospice.
Both Lake Superior and U.P. Home Health Hospices plan to hold several events and celebrations throughout the month of November.
