Since the Affordable Health Care Act passed, more than 7 million Americans have signed up for Obamacare.
Republicans and Democrats in Congress continue to battle about concerns with the healthcare plan.
Representative Dan Benishek visited Marquette General to discuss how the Affordable Healthcare Act is affecting the hospital.
Benishek, who has publicly opposed the bill, met with the hospital's new administrator.
He expressed his concern about the increase in healthcare costs for patients and hospitals in the Upper Peninsula.
"I'm very concerned about what's going to happen here. Marquette General is a big facility and they've got some areas where they can still be successful, but many of our hospitals in Northern Michigan are smaller. They have a great deal of difficulty maintaining a market share, a profit margin so that they can remain open" says Benishek.
The congressman says, attracting new, young doctors and specialists to the area will be of great importance moving forward.
