      Bessemer man goes on trial for murder

      The trial for a Bessemer man accused of murdering his wife began Tuesday. Fifty-year-old Kenneth Wayne Peters is charged with first and second degree murder and vulnerable abuse of an adult related to the death of his wife, 79-year-old Ethel Grzeena Peters.

      She was reported missing August 3 of last year. Her body was found a week later in Watersmeet Township.

      A jury was selected and opening statements got underway Tuesday afternoon. The trial will continue Wednesday morning.
