Blues Fest has big plans for 10th anniversary

The Marquette Area Blues Fest is just over a week away.

This will be the 10th annual Blues Fest. To celebrate the anniversary, the Marquette Area Blues Society is allowing free entry for everyone the Friday of the festival. Tickets will be required for the Saturday and Sunday of the fest. The Blues Society encourages purchasing tickets ahead of time. Musical acts from all around the world come to perform in Marquette's Mattson Lower Harbor Park. The weekend tends to see over 3,000 people.

"We get a lot of folks that come back year after year, and not only the attendees, but many of the performers tell us that this is one of the best festivals they've ever been to. It's not one of the biggest, but it's one of the best," said Mark Hamari, Festival Director. The Blues Society is asking for more volunteers. Volunteers receive discounts and souvenirs.
