The 11th Annual Marquette Area Blues Fest kicked off Friday night at Lower Harbor Park with a free concert. Actor and Musician Jeff Daniels joined the Ben Daniels band on the stage for the opening act. This is the first day of a weekend of blues music in Marquette. Organizers the turnout for the concert was great and there's more in store for the rest of the fest.
"Judging by the crowd we've got here tonight they're loving it and we've got two more full days, Saturday and Sunday of the same type of thing, everything from Acoustic Blues, Delta Blues, Chicago Blues," said Marquette Area Blues Society President Mark Hamari. "These are really world class blues musicians right here in Marquette, you're not going to see this everywhere."
There's more than music at the festival as well, food and merchandise is also available. Saturday's lineup includes Johnny Rawls, and Rick Estrin and the Nightcats. Gates open Saturday at Noon for blues fest. Sunday features Lurrie Bell and Nikki Hill. Weekend tickets are $50 and daily tickets are $30.
