The United States Coast Guard got a call around 2:30 Sunday afternoon about a capsized catamaran in Lake Superior off Shot Point.
The boat had overturned about a quarter mile off shore.
The Coast Guard arrived in a 25-foot response boat within 10 minutes of the call.
Two people were located and rescued from Lake Superior. During the rescue, the boat drifted to shore where it was pulled from the water by bystanders, according to Coast Guard officials.
Waves were between three and four feet at the time of the incident, and Joshua Kuhn of the United States Coast Guard urges boaters to check the weather before heading out on the lake.
