The Village of Ontonagon has issued a boil notice for water customers on M-64 and M-107 between White Pine and the Village of Ontonagon.
The notice was announced by the Village of Ontonagon Water Department on Friday afternoon. The boil notice includes Porcupine Mountain State Park and Silver City.
Customers are advised to boil water for one minute before drinking, preparing food, making ice, or washing dishes. The boil notice is the result of a hydrant failing on M-64, causing a major water leak. This dropped the pressure in the water main between White Pine and Ontonagon.
Service should be restored to the affected areas on Friday afternoon. The boil notice will remain in effect until further notice.
