Former Marquette City Attorney Bonnie Hoff has been selected as the new Ishpeming City Attorney. Hoff was selected by a three to two vote by the Ishpeming City Council. After being fired as the City Attorney of Marquette in 2005, she successfully sued the city for violating the Open Meetings Act. Hoff has been working at a private practice since then.
"It would take a lot to get me to come out of semi-retirement to work in the legal field again and when my hometown called I answered yes proudly."
Hoff, a native of Ishpeming, will be replacing David Savu who was the city attorney for over 40 years. Her hiring will be completed after she reaches an agreement on salary and a work schedule.
