      Boston Strong in Marquette

Wednesday was the one month anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing that killed three people and injured hundreds. Runners from all around the Marquette area gathered together Wednesday to run in memory of the bombing victims.

This is no ordinary run. These runners are running in memory of the Boston Marathon bombing victims led by Upper Michigan runners and spectators who were at the Boston Marathon last month. Among them is Barbara Trudeau of Marquette who was less than a mile from the finish line when the bomb went off. She made it 25.6 miles into the race. She didn't finish the race, but had she been a little quicker, it could have been much worse.

"My not finishing the marathon does not compare to the people who suffered loss of life and limb on the street that day," said Trudeau.

After the attack, the Marquette Marathon Committee banded together to see what they could do to help.

"Everybody was just kind of shaken to the core, and we sat down as a group and we knew right away that there was something we could do, what was it...so this was kind of the perfect idea," said Stephanie Langlois of the Marquette Marathon Committee.

The race is 4.09 miles long, signifying the point during the Boston Marathon when the first explosion took place: at four hours and nine minutes in. Funds raised from the run are going to One Fund Boston, which helps the victims and their families.

"Today is just a good representation of how our community, Marquette, can come together and help people in Boston and just show support, and it makes you feel good that you can help others out," Trudeau said.

Close to 100 runners ran for Boston on Wednesday, many of which will also run in the 4th Annual Marquette Marathon and Half Marathon which will take place on August 31, 2013. The Marquette Marathon is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
