Gwinn Public School's McCormick Field now has a new ticket booth, thanks to a generous Boy Scout.
Jordan Stein, a 16-year-old student athlete at Gwinn High School, is in the process of earning his Eagle Scout badge for Boy Scouts. As a part of earning his badge, Stein is building the school a brand new ticket booth. The new booth is a six by ten structure with sliding windows, a door, and a walk-under. He's fundraised 100 percent of the cost, about $1050, but he's still about $450 short. To fund the rest of his project, Stein is selling engravable bricks to be put in a walkway.
"The old ticket booth was small, not much room for people to sell tickets," says Stein. "People would rip their jackets and clothes on the old fence. You were facing away from the game so you couldn't watch at the same time."
If you'd like to buy a brick, there are sign-up sheets at the Mobile Gas Station next to the high school and at the ticket booth itself.
