Bright colors, derby hats, and raising money for a good cause

Women from across Marquette County dressed up in bright colors and wore thier Kentucky Derby hats to the Marquette Regional History Center Saturday.

It was a fundraising event for the center. Women bid on purses and jewelry donated by members of the community.

After lunch, there was a drawing and competition for the best derby hat.

"My husband loves to watch the Kentucky Derby, and I was watching those ladies wearing fancy hats, and since we can't go there, I went to Michael's and decorated our hat the way they look. We had a fun afternoon making it," said Eunai Danek.

It was the Seventh Annual Purse Auction and Kentucky Derby Celebration. This year they hope to raise $5,000.

All of the money raised was donated to the Marquette Regional History Center .
