      Calumet Theatre holds grand raffle

The Calumet Theatre is holding its third annual grand raffle to raise money for the theatre. This year the theatre is raising money for the installation of an elevator.

One thousand tickets are being sold for $50 each and will be on sale through December 7 when the winners will be drawn. The grand prize winner of the raffle will receive $20,000.

Theatre directors said the elevator is a necessity for the theatre and hope all the tickets will sell out again this year.

â??We have a lot of retired people that move back to the area that were originally from here, and we have so many activities that go on that people could take part of in the ballroom,â?? said Calumet Theatre executive director, Laura Miller. â??People can't get up to the second floor, so we could make our ballroom much more useful.â??

Tickets can be bought at the theatre box office, Ace Hardware, L & L Bar, Newman Appliance, and River Valley Bank, all in Calumet; River Valley Bank in Houghton; and Nutini's in Hancock.
