Monday morning, the registered nurse staff council with Marquette General Hospital Duke LifePoint donated a $2,000 check to Camp Star.
Camp Star is a children's grief camp that happens every August at Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay. It is put on by the U.P. Bereavement Network.
The money will help pay for weekend activities and services. The free camp provides an outlet for kids who have lost a loved one to cope with their loss.
Campers are paired with an older camp buddy who gives them emotional support and grief education.
"It's amazing because what we are hearing from teachers and parents is that there aren't a lot of grief resources for these kids. To be able to provide them with something and then tell them there's no charge is very exciting," said Sarah Harnett, Child Life Specialist.
There are still spots available for anyone interested in participating in the camp. It happens August 9-11.
