An investigation is underway after a 22-year-old man from Philadelphia, traveling east on U.S. 2, tried to avoid hitting a deer and collided with a truck, traveling west on the same road, driven by a 58-year-old man from Ontario.

The Iron County Sheriff's Department said the incident happened on Thursday around 10:31 p.m. on US-2 near Valley Road in Kimball.

Officials said three men were trapped inside their vehicles. Both drivers and a 29-year-old passenger related to the Philadelphia driver were seriously injured.

The Philadelphia men were flown to St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota due to the severity of their injuries. Officials said the Ontario man was treated and released from Aspirus Grand View Hospital.
