People in Negaunee took advantage of this season's Halloween extravaganza to carve out pumpkins for a good cause.
A fundraiser held at Miner's Park in Negaunee on Friday will help people in the community fighting cancer. T hose participating were urged to bring their own pumpkins and have fun carving without the mess at home.
The idea started after a couple of friends decided to honor close relatives affected by cancer.
"When you hear the word cancer you don't necessarily want to think just 'sadness' but when you get events like this and you learn about it as well as have fun with carving pumpkins and all the family fun of it then it definitely makes it a lot easier," Jordan Paquet, event coordinator, said.
Games and a donation-based bake sale were also available.
