After a little rain, people were out and about Saturday afternoon at the Italian Festival in Ishpeming. Numerous people came to enjoy the company of good friends and neighbors at Al Quaal Recreation Area. Many sat and watched the live entertainment that included the Ishpeming Blue Notes. While the festival celebrates the Italian heritage, you certainly did not have to be Italian to attend.
"I'm not Italian, I'm Chilean, but I wish I was Italian when I come here. I'm trying to see if the Italian community can adopt me," said Ernesto Briones.
There was plenty for children to do, including games, inflatable obstacle courses, and pony rides. For the adults there was bingo, a greased pole with a $100 prize, and of course lots of food.
