Thanks to The Mining Journal Cheer Club, there will be smiles on the faces of Marquette County children in need this Christmas.
Salvation Army workers came to The Mining Journal earlier today to do their annual pick up of donated gifts for the Cheer Club.
Bags and boxes filled with toys and games and other items were piled under a Christmas tree dedicated to the Cheer Club.
The Salvation Army says they are pleasantly surprised by the community's generosity every year.
"I get the joy of making sure, seeing the families pick up the toys and showing their appreciation for the toys given, but that's the easy part, that's the fun part. And the folks that are bringing the donations into the Mining Journal, they're the ones that are really doing the work,' said Captain Cappy Moore, a Corps Officer for the Marquette Salvation Army Corps.
Anyone in need of toys for their children this Christmas is welcome to stop by the Salvation Army or Saint Vincent de Paul during business hours to pick up gifts.
