The Marquette City Commission heard the results of the proposed parks and recreation master plan.
Pat Coleman of U.P. Engineers and Architects presented the commission with a plan for the next five years. The plan is based on a 2006 citizen survey and several public comments from open meetings held in July and October of this year. The overall message from the public was to continue work on trail systems and walkways for public use.
"What we heard most from the public was the need to take care of what we have and if there's additional dollars, to enhance what we have," said Assistant City Manager, Karl Zueger.
