City hall, police dept. gets a makeover

The renovations to Hancock City Hall and the police department are finished, ending with an open house Tuesday afternoon.

State Director of the USDA Rural Development Revolving Loan Fund presented a check for $604,000 to city leaders this week.

Over the summer, most of the overhaul was done in the police department, located on the first floor of the building.

"This is a very historic building, a very solid building, but it needed work," says Mayor Bill Laitila, "especially in the police department. They did a fantastic job."

Renovations also included a new roof and facade work to the front of the building.
