Cold Water Won't Stop Swim Teal Lake

T he water may be a little cold but that won't stop swimmers from participating in the 11th annual Swim Teal Lake event on July 26th. The U.P. Diabetes Outreach Network puts on the 2.2 mile swim across Teal Lake. There is a $75 donation for those who register to swim and all of the proceeds go back to UPDON and Diabetes awareness.

" W ell UPDON is a great organization and I like to help, they don't get a lot of funds and a lot of their funds like other charities have been cut ," Race Founder Michael Grossman said. "I just like to raise awareness of diabetes and the health benefits of exercise. If you have diabetes or you want to prevent diabetes you should exercise but you don't have to swim Teal Lake."

Beginners will take off from the Negaunee shore at 8:30AM with experienced swimmers just behind them at nine. Dr. Nat Strand who was part of the first ever all female team to win the Amazing Race will be on hand to speak about living with Diabetes.
